    NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL – WEEK 28 MAY 10, 2021

    PARENT CONFERENCES ARE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY! Please see your child’s teacher for your conference time.  WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU MEET WITH YOUR TEACHER because there are several important topics to cover:

    1. Academic progress
    2. ITBS standardized testing results
    3. Off-week camps registration form
    4. Pass out Silverwood tickets
    5. Check if yearbook and fall deposit are paid
    6. Discuss 4th quarter goals

     

    SPRING TIME DRESS CODE REMINDERS:

    • No skin-tight clothes; leggings only allowed if shirt goes to the end of your fingertips
    • No flip-flops, or “crocks”
    • No shirts with inappropriate images (i.e. skulls, etc)

    MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH THIS FRIDAY!!

    K-6th grade students will be providing a Mother’s Day Brunch on Friday, May 7th  from 9-11:00am.  Here are the details:

    WHO IS INVITED: Moms/caregivers for students K-6th grade

    DATE: Friday, May 7th

    LOCATION: CornerStone Christian Academy (wear good walking shoes)

    TIME: 9-11am

    WHAT TO BRING: (please bring May 6-7th)

    Food to bring:

    Am K – 1 quart cut up fruit
    Pm K – 1 dozen desserts
    1st – 1 dozen bagels and cream cheese
    2nd – 1 dozen individual juices
    3rd - forks, spoons, plates, napkins for 300 (see Mrs. Padula)
    4th - 1 dozen muffins
    5/6th - 1 dozen cut up desserts for cake walk

    I.T.B.S. TESTING APRIL 19-22:

    Kindergarten through 6th grade will be conducting ITBS (Iowa Tests of Basic Skills) Mon-Thur April 19-22. 

    Tests may include:

    • Vocabulary, Phonics, Reading
    • Listening, Language
    • Math Concepts

    KINDERGARTEN TESTS WILL BE MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY – NO KINDERGARTEN THUR & FRI

    1ST-6TH GRADE TESTS WILL BE MONDAY-THURSDAY

    HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP:

    • Pack healthy lunches (limit sugar)
    • Give them lots of rest/sleep
    • Be on time – absences and tardies will lead to tests that cannot be made up
    • Be quiet in the hallway and office area
    • Watch for ‘TESTING’ signs on the classroom doors

    Results will be available within a few weeks.  Thank you for helping our kids succeed during this time!

    Mr. Young is hoping to create a farm for kids to visit one day and explore fruit trees, animals, and pumpkins...he’d like to plant a pumpkin field this spring to get that part of the farm going...would anyone want to donate a packet of pumpkin seeds to help the project?

    If so, you are welcome to bring them to school and we will make sure the planting begins!!

    HOW: Students complete the 2021 Reading Log by March 26 with a total of 10 hours reading.  Students who submit a completed reading log by March 26 will then receive one free ticket to Silverwood Theme Park.  Late reading logs will not be accepted past March 31.

    PLASTIC EGG AND CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED – We are looking for donations of plastic eggs and candy for our upcoming Easter Egg hunts – thank you!

    Registration for current CCA students/families begins Monday for the Fall 2021/2022 school year - space is extremely limited so returning your form and $100 deposit is critical to securing your spot - THIS IS FOR 2 YR OLD to 5TH GRADE - please return these items asap so we can reserve your spot - delaying returning the form/deposit may lead to forfeiture of your spot for the fall term - current CCA families have access to register before it is open to the public - based on the high demand, please return your form SOON!!  Thank you!     ($100 deposit is then put towards your registration fee if K-5th or Sept tuition/daycare if Preschool/Pre-K)

    THIS WEEK: January 11-12 our school will be engaging in our five-year accreditation review process.  This is a chance for the Dept of Education to review our school standards and academic outcomes.  The review process occurs every five years and includes our staff, parents, and students.  Most of the process will take place on Monday, January 11 and will be done remotely through Zoom meetings with staff.  Your child’s academic schedule may be adjusted slightly that day to allow for our elementary staff – who are on the accreditation committee – to participate in these Zoom meetings with the review team.  The results of the review team will be shared with the CCA community when they are completed.  Thank you for your help in this process!

    • January 16: Women’s ministry coffee date; Gross Doughnuts, 10-11am

    THANKSGIVING FEAST DETAILS

    • Parents and primary caregivers are invited to attend from 11-11:30am; for the health and care of our families, we are asking the elderly or high-risk individuals to please stay home to protect their health
    • Temperatures will be taken at the door for ALL parents and primary caregivers entering the building from 11-11:30am; those with temps above the acceptable limit will be asked to return home
    • Classroom sanitize procedures will take place every 30 minutes instead of our traditional 60 minutes
    • One person will be serving food with gloves in each classroom to reduce sharing serving utensils
    • Parents and primary caregivers are asked to stay in their child’s classroom and conclude the feast at 11:30am
    • Parents may take their children at the conclusion of the feast, but this is not a requirement

    CHRISTMAS PROGRAM DETAILS

    • We will not be having a live Christmas program this year due to local Covid requirements

    JUPITER GRADES: We use www.jupitered.com as our online grading program.  Each parent K-6th grade received a login and password.  It is very important you go online and check your child’s progress weekly.  If you cannot find your login information, please email Mrs. Young and she can provide it to you.

    CHANGE TO BAPTISM: In light of the social distancing changes with Covid, we will be moving our public baptism ceremony to the afternoon of July 22.  (There will not be VBS for the students that week.)  If you or someone you know wishes to be baptized, please contact me at 208-818-1721 or mrsyoung@live.com and we will begin preparations.  The afternoon baptism will be at 5pm July 22 at Q’Melin Park in Post Falls.  Children may attend a class Monday, July 20 from 9-10am to learn more about baptism and receive the permission slips for baptism.  Adults and children are welcome to get baptized!  It is a joyous occasion and we hope you make the decision to publicly declare your love for Jesus!

    K-6th grade students will be providing a Family Day Bonanza this Friday, June 19 from 9-11am

    WHO IS INVITED: Moms/Dads/Caregivers for students K-6th

    LOCATION: CCA (wear good walking shoes)

    AM Kindergarten: 2 dozen slices deli meat

    PM Kindergarten: 2 dozen slices cheese

    1st Grade: 2 dozen bagels with cream cheese

    2nd Grade: 2 dozen individual juices/drinks

  • Off-Week (May 22-June 12)

    Hi parents! Our students are right on track with the school calendar and have not missed any learning days!! Well done!! As a result, we have a regularly-scheduled break May 22-June 12 as detailed on the school calendar. There will be no school (on-site or online learning) during that time but daycare services are available. Online learners will have no packets during the break and new packets will available Friday, June 12 for the week of June 15. Please see the school office if you do not currently utilize daycare services but would like to see daycare availability. Enjoy the three-week break!

    Ps- we are trying for June 19 to be our “Family Day” (Mother’s Day Brunch and Father’s Day BBQ combined)…stay tuned for more details!

    Hello!  Because we are in this transition period going to school half-day, our normal newsletters will be changing.  Each teacher will be conducting lessons for 2.5 hours a day with your child.  There should be no need to do the Abeka Academy videos at home unless you are a family that is continuing the online learning for social distancing purposes.  For those returning to on-site learning, homework should only consist of items not completed at school such as reading, cursive, or assignments not finished in class.  Please email Mrs. Young if you have any questions.  God bless you!

    SCHOOL & DAYCARE CLOSED MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day.

    STRING FOR GLOVES – We are recommending everyone do the following with their child and their gloves/mittens: Get a long piece of string, ribbon, or yarn that you match to the length of your kid’s wingspan.  Tie the string to both mittens/gloves (you may need to make a small hole and a knot, but it’s worth it in the longrun).  Then run one mitten/glove and the string through both sleeves of the coat.  The mittens/gloves will then just hang out the bottom of the sleeves and we will spend less time searching for lost gloves.

    SNOW CLOTHES: Hate to say it but it’s time to get those snow clothes packed and ready!!  When snow is on the ground, kids need ALL FIVE THINGS to go outside.  All five things means: winter coat that zips, hood/hat, snow pants, snow boots, gloves; kids who do not bring their snow things will have to sit in the preschool during recess (which is not is much fun as playing outside).  Kids can also prepare to bring sleds for recess.  All sleds need their name in permanent marker in BIG LETTERS.

    JUPITER GRADES: We use www.jupitered.com as our online grading program.  Each parent K-6th grade received a login and password.  It is very important you go online and check your child’s progress weekly.  If you cannot find your login information, please email Mrs. Young and she can provide it to you. 

    SECURE SCHOOL ENTRY: Reminder to parents that ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BE ESCORTED INTO THE BUILDING THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF SCHOOL. Students grades 3rd and older may be able to enter their fingerprints as we get the school year going, but we need to get parents going first.

    MISSING RECORDS?  As we gather the paperwork for a new school year, please make sure you have everything in by September 6.  Mrs. Young will be sending notes home and posting reminders at the secure log-in station in the lobby.
