Hello 3rd Grade Families,
Happy Summer! I hope everyone had a blessed Father's Day! We are on the home stretch of this school year and have a lot of fun things happening this summer. To start out, we will be introducing another Book Report project. The information will go home with each student on Monday the 17th. The pace for this project is a little faster than the last one, now that we have done it once before. With the information sheet and sample rubric there will be a parent consent form sent home. Please sign this acknowledging that you have received the information and send that back with your student ASAP. They will receive points for bringing this back. I am looking for everyone to have a book picked out and entered as their choice by Friday June 21st. Students can choose a book they are already reading, however this project focuses on sequencing and they may need to go back through it to put important events in order. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the timeline or the project itself.
We are starting Friday beach days and will work hard through the week to be able to relax and play at the Beach Friday afternoons starting at lunch time. Please make sure to see information on what every child needs to bring every Friday if they are going with us to the beach. If they are not going, they need to be picked up from school by 11:30.
We will welcome Mrs. Padula into our class for the summer, assisting and learning the ropes of 3rd grade! We are looking forward to having her.
We will have a normal week of homework with a Reading Log and 2 Spelling options due on Friday. We will also have a memory verse introduced on Monday. They will receive a treat if they can recite it on Friday. Please assist your student in getting back into this routine, since the month of May was a little crazy!
*Memory Verse Week 31:
“The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
Please note the following change regarding food policies: If your child will be at school during breakfast or lunch, please DO NOT send the following food/drink items: hot chocolates, Gatorade, any colored drinks, pizza lunchables, cinnamon roll lunchables. We have had bad experiences with these items in the past; as a result, they are no longer allowed in the building.
POSSIBLE SWIM DAYS:
If the kids K-8th finish all of their school work for the week we MAY use the following Fridays as Swim Days down at Q’emiln Park in Post Falls. Kids should bring the following items each Friday just in case: swimsuit, towel, bag for wet clothes, backpack, sunscreen, AND RED SHIRT (if you bought a camp shirt and Mrs. Young has it, that will work great! She will pass them out before we go to the beach). If you have an old camp shirt, you can wear that. If you want a camp shirt, see Mrs. Young.

Homework is not assigned over the weekend, but any work that is missed or not finished in class will be considered homework to turn in the following day.
- A Reading log will be handed out to take home on Monday and needs to be completed each day M-Th, then turned in first thing on Friday.
-A new Spelling word list will be given at the start of each week. We will have a pretest each Thursday and a test each Friday. If 100% is earned on the pretest on Thursday, they will not have to take the Friday Spelling test. They can turn Spelling homework in early, and it is a great idea to do the homework before the pretest on Thursday for that extra practice- especially for the vocabulary words and definitions.
For their spelling homework each week they will need to choose 2 of the following options to complete and turn in first thing Friday.
-Write each word in a sentence.
-Write each word and a word that it rhymes with.
-Write each word three times using three different colors.
-Write each word and draw a picture of that word.
-Write each word once in all capital letters.
-Write each word once in cursive
-Complete another spelling option assigned in class and considered for homework credit.
-Any idea created by a student and approved by Mrs. Grenier
