SILVERWOOD READING TICKET HAS CHANGED: Silverwood no longer participates in “Reading is the Ticket” free ticket program.  They now use “Read to Ride.”  Our school has applied to participate in this program and is waiting to hear back from the Silverwood organization.  There may be a chance that they do not respond to our request this year, which is common in such large reading initiatives.  It took several years for our school to become a part of the former reading initiative.  If we do not get accepted this year, we hope our name is placed at the top of the list for the 2019-2020 school year session.  We will keep you informed of our progress as details unfold.

STRING FOR GLOVES – We are recommending everyone do the following with their child and their gloves/mittens: Get a long piece of string, ribbon, or yarn that you match to the length of your kid’s wingspan.  Tie the string to both mittens/gloves (you may need to make a small hole and a knot, but it’s worth it in the longrun).  Then run one mitten/glove and the string through both sleeves of the coat.  The mittens/gloves will then just hang out the bottom of the sleeves and we will spend less time searching for lost gloves.

NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL – WEEK 4       SEPT 24, 2018

TUITION OPTIONS: Last week we sent home forms about your tuition options.  We want to give families the choice of either an eleven-month or twelve-month pay schedule that best fits your financial needs.  Thank you to the families who returned the forms.  IF YOU DID NOT RETURN YOUR FORM, WE ARE ASSUMING YOU WANT A 12-MONTH PAY SCHEDULE.  Based on the handbook acknowledgement form you signed at the beginning of the year, this handbook acknowledgment form is your payment contract if you did not return the other form last week.  Please contact me if you have any questions or wish to change to the 11-month pay schedule.  Thank you

JUPITER GRADES: Please make sure to log into www.jupitered.com every week and check your child’s grades and progress.

  • NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL - SEPT 17

NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL – WEEK 3       SEPT 17, 2018

TUITION OPTIONS: Please see your child’s teacher or the office for paperwork on your tuition options for this school year.  Some of our parents have expressed an interest in paying their tuition balance over eleven months instead of twelve.  As you know, our current tuition rates are based on a twelve-month payment schedule.  The total tuition cost is distributed over twelve months, making the payment the same each month regardless of the amount of days students attend school.  We want to give families the choice of either an eleven-month or twelve-month pay schedule that best fits your financial needs.

Please read the tuition scales and determine which one works for you.  Please sign the note of understanding and return before September 21 so we can prepare your October statement correctly.  Thank you!

  • NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JULY 9

NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL – WEEK 33       July 9, 2018

FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM CHANGES: Our dear Mrs. O will be leaving July 14 for Virginia to join her newly-graduated Navy husband as he serves our country.  Her last day at CCA will be this Friday.  Please keep them in your prayers as they navigate this new journey.  Mrs. Brawley will become her long-term substitute for the rest of the school year.  Mrs. Brawley is already a current staff member and has been working with Miss Mindy in the Pre-K.  Mrs. Brawley has a degree in music education and is set to begin continuing her education in the fall by getting her teaching certificate through ABCTE (American Board of Certified Teachers of Education).  We interviewed several applicants for the long-term substitute position, but not one of them compares to her love, motivation, organization, and passion for educating children.  Please continue to pray for Mrs. O, Mrs. Brawley, and all of the first grade families as they explore these new adventures!

NO BEACH DAY THIS FRIDAY so students and teachers can focus on curriculum and new academic topics.

NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL – WEEK 8       NOV 6, 2017

    SNOW CLOTHES:

It’s that time of year again!  If there is SNOW or ICE on the ground, kids cannot go outside unless they have all 5 things:

    1. Winter coat that zips

    2. Hat or hood

    3. Snow boots

    4. Mittens or gloves

    5. Snow pants

J EVERY STUDENT WHO DOES THIS AND SHOWS MRS. YOUNG THEIR COAT will get a treat from the treasure box. J

FUNDRAISER UPDATE – The whole school did amazing!  We were able to raise money towards the building fund and the kids all reached their targeted goals.  The whole school will have a pj/cocoa/movie day soon as well as a chance to decorate the following teachers up as “human Christmas trees”: Mrs. Young, Mr. Young, Mrs. Helmuth, Mrs. Olhausen, Mrs. Galli

NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL – WEEK 2       SEPT 11, 2017

Welcome to Week 2!! Everyone did such a wonderful job last week beginning a new school year.  Let’s make it another great one!!

JUPITER GRADES: We use www.jupitergrades.com as our online grading program.  Each parent K-8th grade received a login and password.  It is very important you go online and check your child’s progress weekly.  If you cannot find your login information, please email Mrs. Young and she can provide it to you.

MISSING RECORDS?  As we gather the paperwork for a new school year, please make sure you have everything in by September 15.  Mrs. Young will be sending notes home and posting reminders at the secure log-in station in the lobby.  WE MUST HAVE ALL RECORDS UP TO DATE BY FRIDAY!!

SECURE SCHOOL ENTRY: Reminder to parents that ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BE ESCORTED INTO THE BUILDING THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF SCHOOL. Students grades 3rd and older will be able to enter their fingerprints as we get the school year going, but we need to get parents going first.

PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ONE ANOTHER DURING THIS TIME as new families are getting used to the new secure entry.

There will be an OPEN HOUSE TUESDAY so you can meet them! Our teachers will be in their classrooms Tuesday evening, September 12th from 5:30-6:30pm for kids to introduce their teachers or show you their classrooms.  We hope you can attend!!
