Will you be on the News???
You may have noticed that KXLY News-4 was at school today. They asked if they could come by and do a story on our school's return back-to-school. As we are the first known school in our area to re-open, they wanted to share our process, how we managed, and catch the spirit of our school's joy in being able to get back together and re-engage in on-site learning again...!
The reporter from KXLY, Nikki Torres, meet with our administration, some of our teachers, parents, and even a few 5th/6th graders (with their father present). Ms Torres seemed very genuine (and interested) in sharing the positive aspects of our school and our lead in the re-opening of school. We are appreciative of her care and consideration while on campus.
There was no commitment on when (or if) the story would air, but we wanted to thank KXLY for their initiative to seek a positive story and their professionalism while touring our school.
If you have any questions, please see Mr. Young, Principal Young, or Vice-Principal Helmuth.
From Mr. Young: I enjoyed my time with Ms. Torres as she was visiting our school. I found her to be very professional, respectful, and genuine in her intentions. I embrace opportunities to witness about our school as we are - happy to share the light of the Lord through the smiles of our children and families! While I am not privy to Ms. Torres's thoughts or final copy, I am hopeful she casts our school in a positive manner.
I also believe in the independence of the "press" and their rights afforded through our country's great Constitution of the United State of America. Make no mistake, there are truly bad and deceitful media organizations, agencies, and personnel out there (anchors, reporters, etc.). Yet, there are also genuine, truth-seeking, and hard-working individuals who try to offset the wrongdoing of others. I am hopeful in this regard. Although I do not believe our school is being "set-up" or spun to have this potential story cast us in a negative light, I do not put any situation outside the point of possibility. Again, I am encouraged by the opportunity to share our love and smiles with others, Ms. Torres included!
Equally, I am also aware that we may be targeted with criticisms and negative social slandering (as I call it) in respect to our return to school. Honestly, there will be some who disagree with our decision to re-open. In light of such possible reactions...I simply ask you to respond biblically, and pass the shouldering on to me. Nothing more I enjoy than serving the Lord. And if I can take some "fiery arrows" and turn them back with shards of Christ's love, then we can shake our head again and chuckle at how amazing the "ways of the Lord" are. Amen?
Remember, "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
