COVID-19 [Virus] Supplemental Update – VIA CORNERSTONE

UPDATE #2

To:      All CornerStone Christian Families

From:  CCA Administration

Re:      Covid-19

March 11, 2020 – Per our first update (March 9th), the administration team met at 8:00am this morning to review, evaluate, and discuss the continuing updates from Panhandle Health District regarding Covid-19. In review, the following is the current status in terms of a “school plan” moving forward.

Initiated on March 9th

ü  All families were provided a copy of the Panhandle Health District letter made available to all schools

ü  All families were provided a copy of the Supplemental Update from CCA

ü  Both letters were posted on the school website, Facebook, and made available at the security entrance to the school.

ü  Handwipes (in addition to hand-sanitizer already available) were placed at the security entrance.

ü  Elementary Classrooms were led by Mrs. Young in handwashing dialog and sanitizing.

ü  4th-6th grade classrooms were read the letter by Panhandle and held discussions with Mr. Young.

ü  Table tops, desks, chairs, and flat surfaces were treated with bleach sanitizer at the end-of-the-day.

ü  Cubbies were wiped down, handles and other common placements cleaned.

Initiated on March 11th

ü  The administration team met at 8am. Attended by (1) Mrs. Young-Principal, (2) Mrs. “Mindy” Campbell-Daycare Director/Manager, (3) Mrs. Helmuth – Vice-Principal acting, and (4) Mr. Young-Executive Director/Administrator.

ü  All information provided by Panhandle Health District (our governing authority) was reviewed. Further action items were put in place immediately:

1.     NEW - Agreed implementation of a daily “CLEANING EVENT SCHEDULE” that would be placed in each classroom (via clipboard) that will be used to document and remind of mandatory scheduled cleanings as follows:

§  Bleach solution (desks, chairs, flat surfaces, door handles) – prior to class beginning

§  Hand wipes/sanitizer – prior to snack time(s)

§  Hand wipes/sanitizer – prior to lunch

§  Hand wipes/sanitizer – prior to any food event

§  Bleach solution: Desks and surfaces – returning from playground, etc.

§  Bleach solution: Desks and surfaces – end of the day

§  Hand wipe/sanitizer – sneezes, coughs, & returns from the restrooms.

2.     Clarification that wipes (baby, sanitary, etc) are approved for hand cleaning but a bleach sanitary solution is preferred for desks, chairs, and flat surfaces.

3.     Continued requirement for all entering the building to hand-sanitize (wipes and sanitizer are available).

4.     Continued/Heightened enforcement of the school “sick-policy” including low-grade fevers, calling parents, mandatory back-up & pick-up plans for children who show signs or become sick at school.

It goes without saying that we have challenges at this time - mainly trying to continue to keep a working supply of hand/baby wipes, hand-sanitizer, tissue and tissue paper. We are hopeful our existing supply will carry us through till supply and demand realistically correct.

We will continue to update our families with any new information regarding this growing pandemic. Should you have any questions, please let our administration team know.

With all things…please keep our school and staff in your prayers.

In Christ Jesus our Lord,

John

Key essential reminders

1.IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK, RUNNY NOSE, COUGH, SNEEZING, SLIGHT FEVER, and/or similar symptoms of cold or flu…THEY MUST REMAIN HOME.

2.YOU MUST HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN FOR CARE IN-PLACE IN CASE YOUR CHILD IS SICK OR GETS SICK AT SCHOOL.

3.ANY CHILD SHOWING SIGNS OF COLD OR FLU WILL BE SENT HOME IMMEDIATELY. YOU MUST HAVE AN EMERGENCY PLAN IN PLACE FOR CHILD CARE AND IMMEDIATE PICK-UP IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO LEAVE WORK, ETC.

The above RULES and PROCEDURES are already in place as school policies outlined specifically in our School Handbook. Because of the delicate nature of this outbreak, and in order to be considerate of others, strict enforcement will be maintained. If you have any questions, please let us know.

AGAIN, BE CAREFUL TO REVIEW ALL THE MATERIALS WE SEND HOME REGARDING COVID-19.
